Event Date: October 4, 2025
We were thrilled to present the preliminary findings from playtesting our prototype table-top roleplaying game Endgame at the Board Game Academics Conference this month (https://boardgameacademics.com/)
We explored the question ‘Can games help us to have better conversations around death, dying and loss’, examining what we might mean by ‘better’, sharing the process of collaborative game design we undertook with EOL care professionals and games designers last year , and presenting our first insights into the particular value we have identified in participants helping to build games and explore how they might work, over and above the (also important) benefits of playing games.
You can watch a short podcast interview with two members of the team https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od3CaKHcNgc
Our full paper will be published in the coming months.
If you are interested in playtesting Endgame we would love to hear from you. We welcome all feedback, and suggestions for changes, modifications, or future developments.
